In Memory of Mike Ohmstede
Dear PYH Community,
Recently, the PYH family lost a member from our earlier days, Mike Ohmstede. Mike was instrumental in the program’s first taste of success - winning the very competitive Boston Neighborhood Hockey League City Championship in the early 1970s. As many of you can imagine, that league was extremely competitive and featured multiple future NHLers and Olympians, but Mike stood tall between the pipes and brought it home for the Parkway community time and time again!
Mike played through Midgets with PYH and then went on to play net for BLS and Babson College, remaining in West Roxbury until he recently retired. He spent a lot of time fishing - the perfect spot to get away from the rink!
To honor Mike, a few of his friends and former PYH teammates (led by Rich Crowley and Pat Cullity) have gotten together to donate both money and brand new goalie equipment to our program. We truly appreciate their efforts here and are proud to know that PYH and the many friendships that developed here throughout the years have remained so strong. It’s what continues to make this program such a great one!
To Mike, may he rest in peace and, to his friends, thank you for honoring a great person and teammate in such a special way.
To the PYH community, think of Mike the next time you see a great save by one of our goalies as we appreciate him and all our goalies for their commitment!
Best,
PYH BOD
